I always knew I would be a scientist. In the 5th grade I remember having to do a book report on how birds fly. It wasn’t good enough for me to report that birds flap their wings and “somehow” they fly through the air. What were the use of feathers? Why were wings shaped….like wings. The problem frustrated me so much that it push me over the edge to tears. Luckily, my father knew something about flying and was able to explain to me how the shape of a wing creates high and low pressure that lifts the bird or plane off the ground. A wing on an airplane is shaped like a wing on a bird. Wow. Needless to say, I gave the most technical book report the next day. I believe my teacher did not understand, but I was satisfied.
